Friday Highs.v9

My highs for the week:

Molly's first rainbow. We were on our way to church Wednesday night and it was oddly enough raining while the sun was shining. AND there was a rainbow. I know Molly girl probably couldn't see it, but I still pointed it out to her. I think she was excited.

This moment:

Earlier in the week after Chris had gone to work, I walked into the bedroom and he had made our bed. (This is something I must do everyday...not sure why). It's the little acts of love...

Worshipping here last night. It's not often that I get to be in a service where I'm not on the stage, so the times I am, I soak it up.

Comforting my little girl. There have been a few times this week that when Molly has gone to someone else, she's fussed. A lot. Then when she comes back to me, she calms down. As much as I want her to be able to go to other people, I won't lie...it gives me confidence as her mom when I'm the one that soothes her

And lastly, I just thought I'd snap a pic of my new fall coat (that was basically free).

Happy Friday everyone!

i heart autumn

I think every year I get more and more excited for this season. It's just something about the cooler weather that I think is so refreshing.

I have a confession: I may be slightly addicted to Pinterest. But here's the thing: I haven't actually joined.

(Sorry Melodie---facebook wouldn't let me comment on your question... Something about my browser not being up to date. Ugh, long story)

Anyway, I have a way around joining pinterest--because for some reason I think that if I officially join I will spend more time there. bwah haha hahahaha

Yep, I do it the old fashioned way of saving pictures to my computer and bookmarking craft tutorials and recipes. Lamo. I know. But it works for me. and another friend....sorry to rat you out. hehe.

AH! Extremely long tangent to explain to you that I have been saving these lovely autumn inspiration pictures that I found on pinterest. HAHA.

Feast your eyes on these beauties...

I'm pretty sure nothing compares to the color of Ohio leaves in the fall (not that this picture was taken in Ohio, but ya know...)

Eek! Love these tights. I have a pair very similar and can't wait to wear them...

This sweater just makes me want to curl up on the couch and snuggle.

I just really like this girl's outfit...

Other tidbits:

I cannot wait to try Elsie and Emma's Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
(this isn't it...this picture via pinterest)
At goodwill the other day I found the perfect fall jacket. Bonus? I found three bucks inside the pocket so it basically paid for itself.

And this just about sums it all up:

Friday Highs.v8

I know it's been a while since I've shared some highs. I think sometimes it requires intention to pause and take note of the things in life that are wonderful. Here's a few from my week....

We took a walk the other day when it was just on the brink of rain. The air was so lovely. We walked extra slowly, risking getting poured on, and took extra deep breaths.

I'm finding large amounts of joy in this autumn weather. The cooler weather is so refreshing for my soul.

Molly has been a little stingy with her giggles. But one thing that often gets her going is Zoe. This makes my heart melt.

Molly's room. I am going to keep you in suspense and not show pictures quite yet, but it is such a happy place. I absolutely cannot walk in there without smiling.

Just hanging out with Molly. I feel so blessed to be able to be with my little girl all day long. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Please tell me, is there anything better??

I think not. *grin*

we're alive.

Alive and well, in fact. Just been busy, that's all.
Trying to find balance.
Trying to take time to properly rest. Why is that so difficult?

Apple Crisps

I followed these directions the other day and made up some apple crisps. I think next time I'll leave them in a little longer though....I prefer them crispy rather than chewy!

Molly

Chris says my blog is turning into a photo-fest of Molly girl, but how can help but share this sweet little face?

Plus, I won't lie, uploading a quick picture is a whole lot easier than sitting down and putting together a post that actually sounds legit.

I'm trying to find a balance. For now, this is what ya get! *grin*

Breakfast for Dinner....

...With a TWIST!

This might be our new favorite way of making breakfast food. Maybe you've heard of this. It's called Oven Pancakes, aka German Pancakes. I used this recipe found on allrecipes.com, and took the suggestion of the first review, as well as used a little less butter. So combined, here is the recipe:

Oven Pancakes

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 TB brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). In a small bowl, mix together white sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
  2. Place butter in a 9 inch cake pan and heat in the oven until melted. In a blender or food processor, whip eggs and milk. Pour in flour, brown sugar, and vanilla and beat until well combined. Pour batter into hot pan. Sprinkle on sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until puffed and golden. Drizzle with syrup and serve warm.

Looks delicious, right?

Now for another twist....eggs baked in muffin tins.
So quick and so easy. They don't taste all that different than the way you'd normally make eggs, but they're super fun!

Nothing fancy, just set your oven to 350, spray the tin, and crack in the egg! I've tried scrambled as well as over easy, and both work great.

Mmmm, mmmm! A delicious twist on your normal Pancakes and eggs. Enjoy :)

Later.

My apologies for the slower pace lately. I've been trying to sort through my responsibilities as well as wants, and do my best to prioritize. And boy, is it difficult.

A good friend has helped me realize that in viewing my responsibilities as obligations, I've somehow lost the joy in serving my husband, my daughter, and my community.

We leave for vacation today, and I am very much looking forward to a break from everything. I'm pretty sure God designed humans to require a time a rest (Hello, Sabbath anyone!?!), but I know that is something I definitely lack.

So I'll be back. Later.

After I'm refreshed.

Swimming

Last week Molly girl had her first experience at the pool!

All ready with her cute suite and sunhat.

I think Mommy and Daddy were more excited than she was...

Overall consensus?
She didn't hate it, but I think next year she might enjoy it a little more :)
