Cooper's Birthday Vest

When Molly was born, I had the idea to make a pillowcase to take to the hospital (add some spunk to the hospital room, know what I mean?) and then use that pillowcase to make an outfit for her first birthday.

You can see pictures here of Molly's dress.

It was a little more difficult to pick the fabric for my pillowcase when Cooper was born, knowing that boy's outfits are slightly more difficult than a girl's dress.

Here's the best shot of the pillowcase in use.
(Note: best shot of the pillowcase, NOT myself, HAHA)

And here is what I made of it for Cooper's first birthday party.

I'm pretty excited about how it turned out, and love that I was able to keep this tradition for both kids! :)

Handmade/Local Week: Better Life Bags

In honor of the craft show this weekend
(read more about that here),
I thought I'd highlight some of my favorite handmade shops and local shops this week.

Better Life Bags

Where do I even begin? Besides the fact that these bags are completely awesome, the girl behind the shop and core of her business is amazing.

To quickly sum it up, Rebecca employs women that otherwise wouldn't have jobs and pays them a sustainable wage. Her business is all about pouring into the community and being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Read more about Better Life Bag's mission here.
(and be sure to watch the quick video!)
Read Rebecca's blog here.
And finally, shop the bags here.

His space.

Little man will be residing in our bedroom for a while before he and Molly share a room. Of course, I wanted to make his space a little bit special and boyish.

And if you know me, my desire was to do it on a dime! :)

His wall art:

This canvas was completely inspired by this post from this lovely lady. Originally from this lovely lady!
How's that for inspiration?! Haha.

Twigs found outside. Already had the canvas and felt on hand.

This was the only money I spent on his art. It's actually a card, but I knew it'd be perfect as a small print on his wall.
From here.

My dear friend, Kylee, made this for him. I cannot get over how well it fits with everything. I am absolutely in love with it. :)

And finally, a homemade mobile made from yarn pom-poms. :)

This whole space makes me pretty happy. I'm giddy with excitement  just dreaming about the little guy that will soon grace us with his presence.

***********

And YES! His name starts with the letter "C".
Guess away, my friends. Guess away. :)

A sweater for him

If you remember, a while back, I got my mind set on making baby boy a sweater. I think I may have overestimated my abilities slightly, seeing as how I had never before followed a knitting pattern.

But if you know me, you know that when my mind is set, I'm doing it. :) So here is the finished product!

You just can't look too closely, k?

I can't wait to see him bundled up all warm and snug!

Not Your Mama's Craft Market

Have I mentioned to you all that I've been busy?

That's kind of a joke. Of course you already knew that.

Well, I'm happy to say that one of the projects I was working towards is now over and was extremely successful!

I was contacted by Chelsey a few months ago and asked to participate in her new and fresh craft show in our town. And let me just tell you, the girl does not disappoint! She did an absolutely incredible job, top to bottom. I could not have been more impressed. :)

You can read more about Chelsey here, and see her Facebook page here.

Here are the pictures from my booth. I was so nervous about how this would turn out, but in the end, I was very happy with it!

Also, a huge thanks to my girl, Whitney for all her help with the props on my booth. You are amazing, Whit! Love you!!

If you see something you like here, you're in luck! I didn't completely sell out of everything, so I'll be adding to my shop later this week hopefully! Stay tuned. :)

Thankful Tree, 2012

Last year, we started the tradition of the thankful tree. You can read those here.

This year, it was a little more thrown together, but I didn't want to forsake this month of focusing on gratitude.

Here are this years, in picture form. :)
