Task two: Christmas gifts.
But honestly, this last Christmas season was pretty stressful for me, and I don’t really want to repeat that, especially with a new baby! So I’ve set a goal. I know it’s high. I honestly have no idea if I’ll reach it. But I’m surely going to strive for it.
So how am I doing this? What steps am I taking?
I am crocheting. A lot. I love crocheting because it’s one of those crafts you can take anywhere, pick up and do a couple of stitches and then put it down. I’ve even crocheted at stop lights. Eek! I’m not quite that desperate right now, but I am taking advantage of my lunch breaks at work. So, many gifts this year will be made of yarn!

A friend and I have decided to have monthly craft days where we get together and work on Christmas presents for a Saturday. I’m hoping to save some of my bigger projects for these days. I’m really excited about this and am hopeful that it can become somewhat of a tradition! :)
Basically I’m just trying to really think ahead. Planning and doing is pretty important here. So who knows what’ll happen, but I sure can try. Anyone think I’m nuts??!?!
Task one: leave my nails alone.

Haha, just kidding. But for real. I want to grow out my nails and leave them be.
This just might be the hardest goal to achieve. Biting, picking, tearing, you name it---it’s what I do and have done my whole life to not only my fingernails, but my toenails. What happens is this: I will be inspired by someone else’s pretty nails, grow them out, then bite them all off in a matter of about 75 seconds. This can either be due to boredom, nervousness, a football game, doesn’t really matter. But that’s the typical routine.
So how will I break this wretched habit? What’s my plan? I have a few ideas…
Keep my cuticles moist. When they are dry and there are pieces sticking out, I have to pick them.
Keep the dirt out from under my fingernails. I have a thumbtack on my keyboard at work that does this trick real well. This will keep me motivated (and keep the white lines even—know what I mean?)
Those are really the only ideas I have for myself right now (obviously I’ve never been successful at this). So if anyone has any tips, please share!!

a new year.
New Year's was great. I took zero pictures the whole night. Not sure why…I guess I was just enjoying the moments with some of my bestest friends. It was truly spectacular. We had delicious food, played fun games, and of course had wonderful conversation. But my favorite part of the whole evening was the first hour of the new year. Sitting in a circle, a friend led us in worship to the Throne. We then took turns sharing what the Lord has taught us this past year. Then we prayed and sang some more. I just couldn’t help but think two things. . .
First, this is the Church. The body of Christ. A group of believers coming together worshipping and communing with our Lord. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that church is confined to a specific building on Sunday morning at 10:30. What we experienced that night….THAT was church. And I have a feeling Jesus was looking down and smiling upon His children.
And second, what a beautiful way to start the new year. It was perfectly in line with our purpose…Chris and I made some resolutions a few days ago. It’s actually a whole word document covering various aspects of life and our goals/aspirations for each area. But at the very top of our list we define our ultimate purpose:
to reflect Christ in every area of life; to acknowledge our dependence on the Lord each and every day in dying to ourselves; to live with an eternal mindset, bringing glory to God in all we do.
Nothing like starting the New Year off right, huh? *grin*
The next few days I want to share with you all a few of my random goals for the new year. Please share yours, if you’d like!

i'm one of them!?!?!

I love starbucks. There’s no denying that.
But I never thought I was one of those complicated drink orderers until today when the girl read off my drink (I have no idea if I’m saying this in the right order) :
Grande Decaf Three Pump Extra Hot Peppermint Mocha
I know it can get more complicated, but I don’t think my drink order has ever been that long.
And ya know, I have to honestly admit, there was an ounce of pride as I stepped forth and claimed that drink as my own.
And it tastes pretty darn delicious too.
